CCGrass is delighted to support the Non-League Paper, by sponsoring the Cup Run of the Year, at this year’s National Game Awards.

The winner, from the Southern League Division One Central, is Halesowen Town FC, who defeated three National League clubs, Maidenhead United, FC Halifax Town and Barnet in their unfinished historic run, in the elongated 2019-2020 season’s FA Trophy.

“It came as much of a surprise to us as anyone,” said manager Paul Smith. “I did not think a Step 4 club could ever go so far in the FA Trophy so it wasn’t really a priority, if I’m honest. It was always the league.”

After 13 FA Trophy ties, including a win over CCGrass customer Bradford Park Avenue, and another four in the FA Cup, you might be thinking the focus on the cups had come at a cost to Halesowen’s league form. However, they were second in the table, with a game in hand, before the season came to a close and will start next season as favourites for a return to Step 3.

CCGrass Business Development Manager, Jamie Forrester, added, “Every player loves being involved in a cup run, so the players from Halesowen have had a season to celebrate. CCGrass is thrilled for the team, and hope it is not the only trophy they win this season.”
